Back to School!

I am praying that everyone had a rockin’ summer! I know I did! I didn’t even make it a week sleeping in my own bed! I’m sure all of you have some crazy stories, as I do, to share about the summer! If you haven’t been coming to church… it’s time to start coming and share your summer sagas with the group as well as worship our Lord and awesome Savior with us! As we get back into the groove of school… let’s get back into the groove with meeting and worshipping Jesus!!!!

Peace Out and Praise God,

Angela Roller
Youth Director

Fuel Groups

Fuel groups are in full swing! This is a time for you to reFO2CUS in the middle of the week. The middle school is meeting from 6:30-8:00 PM and diving into the book of James. The high school is searching out the character of Peter from 6:30-8:30 PM. If you are interested in reFO2CUSing in the middle of a crazy week of school… come and join us. They are smaller groups than what you will find on Sunday night, so everyone gets a chance to talk and discuss if you like… or we have those that like to just sit and listen. This is also a good time to jump in any Wednesday… there is no set curriculum that you need to keep up with. Just come and you will find it easy to participate.

Fall Retreat 2010! Get Ready for an Adventure!

You will not want to miss this year’s Fall Retreat, September 10-12 at Woodland Christian Camp in Temple, Georgia. The theme is “Go Underground”. We will be diving into the importance of the underground churches in the world. But that’s not all! We will jump into our faith in God and how important it is to either be underground or not. With that is a very intense activity called the Underground Church that will be played out by everyone attending! This is a must see!

The cost of this adventure is only $46! This includes your lodging, transportation, food, t-shirt and most of all: an unforgettable journey with God! Your friends will love this retreat so feel free to invite! Here’s the catch: you need to register by September 1! If the cost is a road block, please know there are scholarships available that are factored into the youth budget! If you are interested in a scholarship, please fill out a form and get it to Angela Roller ASAP so we can make sure you’re paid for!

Movie Night!

Coming on Sunday night to a youth ministry near you… To Save A Life! On September 19 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at Cornerstone UMC, we will be showing the film To Save A Life. Not only is this a movie you will not want to miss, but your friends will not want to miss it either! To Save A Life is a powerful indie movie about the real-life challenges of teens and their choices. At some point, every teen has to decide: “What’s my life going to be about?” To Save A Life dares to bring that question into their world, encouraging them to answer it with boldness, honesty and Christ-likeness—and to put love into action around them.

“This movie is life-changing”
“Realistic”

Those were the most common responses from over 600,000 teens, youth workers, coaches, pastors, teachers and parents that saw the movie in theaters and at conferences.

“One of the many things I love about the movie To Save A Life is how it portrays in a very real (non-cheesy) way the different pressures teenagers face. It opens doors for students to talk with trusted leaders on where they see themselves in the story.”
—Doug Fields, Founder: Simply Youth Ministry & Author: Purpose Driven Youth Ministry.

“Haven’t been the same since. Very touching movie. Addresses the very subject we face as teens. ‘What’s the point of all this if we don’t let it change us?’”
—David

So come… enjoy the movie with a bowl of popcorn in one hand and a coke in the other. With that will be various other snacks. One of the best parts of all… it’s all FREE! If you would like invites to hand out to all your friends… they will be available in Angela’s office. Hope to see everyone there!
